An Irish Blessing For An Irish Girl On Her Birthday (sort of)

"May the road rise up to meet you,
May the wind be ever at your back
May the sun shine warm upon your face
And the rain fall softly on your fields
And until we meet again, May God hold
you in the hollow of his hand."

It's gotten pretty late, for another night in a row, and I can't upload my pictures from tonight's shindig because, in contrast to last night, the roommate is sacked out.

But I couldn't let the night slip by without mention of this beautiful friend, whom we celebrated tonight. She's the first of our freshman gang to turn 21 and her example all along has been how to really grow up in college. Among many other things she has taught me not to preach at people, the importance of inclusion, the necessity of variety amongst friends, endurance and patience. She has probably even taught me whether or not "has taught" is bad grammar. She works hard and plays hard. Her laughter is authentic, her respect is earned and her love is giving-- just look at my wardrobe.

She goes by many names and has created a few for me, but for now and for always I'll know her as Big D. Well, and Deirge.

Arooroorooroo.
